Travel Program
We recommend travelling to Windhoek on an overnight flight.
Day 1: Arrival in Windhoek
Welcome at Windhoek International Airport. From there, we will accompany you directly to the 4x4 vehicle rental company. After a short introduction, you will take over your vehicle and, after doing some shopping, enjoy your first drive into the great outdoors.
Upon arrival at the guest farm campsite, you will have time to set up your vehicle and explore the surroundings. The remainder of the day is dedicated to relaxing and settling in.
In the evening, we will enjoy dinner around the campfire, together with a final briefing and important information about the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Heading Southwest to Sossusvlei
The drive to Sesriem takes you through the diverse landscapes of central Namibia. The route is mostly on paved roads, passing gently rolling hills, expansive farmland and the edge of the Namib Desert.
Sesriem is the gateway to the spectacular Sossusvlei region. The area offers unforgettable photographic opportunities, hiking and the chance to experience sunrise or sunset surrounded by the vastness of the Namib Desert.

Day 3: Sossusvlei
We set off early at 5:00 am for the highest dunes in the world. Our first stop is Dune 45. A little morning warm-up is well worthwhile before climbing the dune and experiencing a spectacular sunrise from the top.
We then continue to Dead Vlei, where we take a walk through this extraordinary landscape and admire the iconic, ancient dead camel thorn trees standing against the white clay pan and towering red dunes.
In the afternoon, we visit Sesriem Canyon. This narrow sandstone gorge was carved by the Tsauchab River to depths of up to 30 metres in places, offering a fascinating glimpse into the geological history of the Namib.

Day 4: Sesriem to Swakopmund
Our journey from Sesriem to the coast takes us through the spectacular Namib Desert. A stop in Walvis Bay offers the opportunity to see flamingos and pelicans before continuing to Swakopmund.
Swakopmund is a charming coastal town known for its German colonial architecture, cafés and wide range of activities. The route itself is a fascinating contrast of desert landscapes and Atlantic Ocean views.
In the evening, we enjoy dinner at a restaurant overlooking the sea.

Day 5: Swakopmund to Spitzkoppe
After replenishing our supplies, we take a stroll through Swakopmund and discover some of the town's strong German heritage.
We then follow the coast north towards Henties Bay, before turning inland towards the impressive Spitzkoppe.
Known as the “Matterhorn of Namibia”, Spitzkoppe is almost 700 million years old. Its spectacular granite peaks, known as bornhardts, rise dramatically from the flat Namib landscape between Usakos and Swakopmund.
The highest peak reaches 1,784 metres above sea level, rising approximately 700 metres above the surrounding plains.

Day 6: Spitzkoppe to Kamanjab
Leaving the impressive granite peaks of Spitzkoppe behind, we head north through the vast landscapes of Namibia towards Kamanjab.
The route combines paved roads and gravel tracks, passing endless savannah and remote settlements.
Kamanjab, a small town in the Kunene Region, is a gateway to wildlife areas and Himba communities – making it an ideal stop to experience both the natural and cultural side of Namibia.

Day 7: Heading North to Opuwo
From Hoada Campsite, we continue north through the spectacular landscapes of Damaraland, with a stop at Palmwag – an ideal place to refuel.
From here, we continue along gravel roads through the vast open landscapes of the Kunene Region towards Opuwo, the gateway to the Himba communities.
Along the way, we encounter dramatic granite formations, sweeping savannah and, with a little luck, some of the desert-adapted wildlife that makes this region so special.

Day 8: Opuwo to Epupa Falls
Our journey from Opuwo to Epupa Falls takes us through vast savannah landscapes and remote Himba villages.
The road is mainly gravel, with some sandy sections, making a 4x4 essential. Along the way, there are opportunities for spectacular scenery, wildlife sightings and encounters with the local culture.
Our destination is the magnificent Epupa Falls on the Kunene River, right on the border between Namibia and Angola.

Distance: 180 km / Driving time: 3:00 hours
Day 9: East to Kunene Island
Leaving Epupa Falls behind, we travel approximately 120 km through remote savannah and Himba villages to the idyllic Kunene Island Camp, situated on the banks of the Kunene River.
The gravel tracks require a capable 4x4, but reward us with spectacular landscapes, wildlife encounters and a true sense of wilderness and isolation.

Day 10: South to Hobatere
From Kunene Island Camp, we head south towards Hobatere Road Oasis Camp, travelling through the remote Kunene Region.
The route is mainly on gravel roads, passing vast savannah, dry riverbeds and occasional Himba settlements that offer fascinating insights into local life and culture.
Along the way, keep an eye out for wildlife such as oryx, springbok and giraffe.
Hobatere Road Oasis Camp is beautifully situated in the wilderness, offering peaceful campsites and the opportunity to experience Namibia's wildlife and natural surroundings at close range.

Day 11: Hobatere to Okaukuejo – Etosha National Park
Our approximately 200 km journey from Hobatere to Okaukuejo takes us through the spectacular Etosha National Park, with countless opportunities for unforgettable wildlife encounters.
Along the way, we pass numerous waterholes where elephants, giraffes, lions, zebras and many other species are frequently seen.
The well-maintained gravel roads are easy to drive, but careful driving is essential – Wildlife can cross the road at any time.
Okaukuejo is famous for its illuminated waterhole, where animals can often be observed after dark. It is a spectacular way to end our Etosha safari day.

Day 12: Okaukuejo to the East
We leave Okaukuejo and continue east towards Onguma Tamboti Camp, following the eastern side of Etosha National Park.
The approximately 155 km journey on well-maintained gravel roads continues to offer excellent opportunities for wildlife sightings, including zebra, giraffe, elephants and various antelope species.
Onguma Tamboti Camp is situated peacefully on the edge of the park, surrounded by mopane woodland and offering a wonderful safari atmosphere and beautiful views of the surrounding wilderness.

Distance: 155 km / Driving time: 3:30 hours
Day 13: Onguma Tamboti to Otjiwa Safari Lodge
Our journey from Onguma Tamboti to Otjiwa Safari Lodge takes us through the diverse landscapes east of Etosha National Park.
The route is mainly on gravel roads, passing open plains, mopane woodland and small farms. Along the way, we may encounter antelope, giraffe and, occasionally, elephants.
Otjiwa Safari Lodge is beautifully situated within a private wildlife reserve and offers an authentic safari experience, comfortable campsites and wonderful views across the African wilderness.

Distance: 295 km / Driving time: 4:30 hours
Day 14: Otjiwa to Windhoek
We head south towards Windhoek and River Crossing Lodge.
The route is mainly on well-maintained gravel and paved roads, passing expansive farmland and open landscapes. Along the way, keep an eye out for wildlife such as oryx, springbok and kudu.
River Crossing Lodge is beautifully situated along the Swakop River, surrounded by rolling hills. It provides a peaceful and relaxing setting – the perfect place to enjoy our final evening in the Namibian wilderness.

Distance: 220 km / Driving time: 3:00 hours
Day 15: Back to Windhoek
From River Crossing Lodge, we drive approximately 40 km south to Windhoek, the capital of Namibia.
The journey follows well-maintained paved roads through rolling hills and open farmland. In Windhoek, there is time to explore the city and visit some of its highlights, such as Christ Church, the Alte Feste Museum or a local market, before returning the 4x4 vehicles.
We then continue to Hosea Kutako International Airport, approximately 45 km east of Windhoek, for our return flight.
A relaxed and fitting end to our Namibian adventure – with time to enjoy some final glimpses of the country's landscapes, culture and city life before heading home.
