Full and spicy on the nose, with delicate hints of flowers and yellow fruit on the palate. Complex acidity structure with barely perceptible residual sugar.
After three lean harvests due to a lack of rain, followed by the Corona crisis, the winery had to rely on its "silverware": as a "successor vintage" to the now sold-out 2016 vintage, Meyer Joubert has released his magnificent 2013 Premium Syrah, which he had actually intended as a reserve.
It is a complex, magnificent wine that would normally be offered at a much higher price. Aged for several years in multiple-used French barriques. Wonderfully matured spice and fruit notes, very full and persistent. However, the 2013 Syrah is not a heavy blockbuster but a very elegant and expressive, mature Syrah that is more in the style of the Old World.
